Overview

Jazz Night in America, a synergistic partnership between NPR Music, WBGO Studios, and Jazz at Lincoln Center, stands as a multi-platform radio, video documentary, and concert presentation series, hosted by the talented Christian McBride. The show's primary objective is to acquaint audiences with exceptional jazz musicians and performances from across the globe.

Challenge

The task at hand was to launch a fresh sub-series titled "Youngbloods," which would spotlight five trailblazing jazz musicians under 30, poised to revolutionize the genre. The challenge involved devising a branding and graphic design campaign that would captivate a youthful and diverse audience, while effectively promoting the new sub-series across various platforms.

Solution

In close collaboration with the Jazz Night in America and NPR marketing teams, I embarked on creating a branding and graphic design campaign that showcased the raw talent and vibrancy of the Youngbloods musicians. The process began with establishing a brand identity that would resonate with a young and diverse demographic, employing striking colors and typography to evoke the exhilaration and novelty of the jazz genre. Subsequently, I designed a collection of posters and social media content, each highlighting one of the Youngbloods musicians along with quotes and visuals that emphasized their distinctive talents and impact on the jazz realm. Furthermore, I crafted animations and videos spotlighting their performances and interviews, which were utilized across social media and other channels to publicize the sub-series.
